Sleep Remedy
Current Standard of Sleep Quality
The importance of sleep is often downplayed & even considered as a form of laziness.
We will spend approximately one third of our lives asleep. Yet, despite being crucial for optimal functioning, most people do not get an adequate amount of sleep per night & may even consider it a minor nuisance. Sleep deprivation can lead to a decrease in productivity, loss of emotional intelligence, increases risk of chronic health problems & can even take 16 years off of your lifespan. Lack of adequate sleep can also impair cognitive functions ranging from simple alertness to complex processes like decision making or mental flexibility (Killgore, 2010). There are studies that also suggest that sleep deprivation can create metabolic consequences, resulting in alterations of glucose metabolism, upregulation of appetite & decreased energy expenditure. This links sleep deprivation to increased obesity & risk of diabetes (Knutson et al., 2007).
Sleep is critical to recovery and optimal health. Many readers report improved sleep after adopting a regular practice of cold plunge therapy. In "Cognition & Cold Water", we get an in depth look at how ice baths can be a remedy for cognitive function due to traumatic brain injury & corresponding sleep deprivation. Dr. Kirk Parlsey's Sleep Remedy takes sleep optimization a step further by providing the dietary support necessary to ensure restful sleep each night.
Sleep Remedy was developed as an all-natural supplement to support longer, healthier sleep patterns. Doc believes that sleep is one of the most crucial tools in our health arsenal to show up each day as the best versions of ourselves. Deep sleep allows us to feel refreshed and energized to tackle each day.

About Sleep Remedy
When Kirk "Doc" Parsley, M.D. joined the Navy SEALS right out of high school, he began pushing himself to peak mental & physical performance, already feeling the effects of this intense environment & need for quality sleep. After serving in the SEALS, he went to medical school. He would later serve as an Undersea Medical Officer at Naval Special Warfare Group One overseeing younger SEALs, & he again saw first hand the extreme impact that sleep & stress had on their abilities both cognitively & physically.
These experiences highlighted for him the crucial role that sleep plays in our mood, cognitive abilities, energy levels & everyday functioning, eventually leading him to the development of Sleep Remedy.
